Sport : The European Court of Justice cancels a judgment of the Court of First Instance and considers ” illegal and incompatible aid ” from the Spanish State

On March 4, 2021, the European Court of Justice cancelled a judgment of the Court of First Instance and considered “illegal and incompatible aid” from the Spanish State ;

The derogatory tax regime granted to 4 soccer clubs (including FC Barcelona and Real Madrid) entitles them to a specific advantageous tax rate on their income. Spain must therefore recover the aid paid to the beneficiaries of the scheme.
